Called as one of the most accessible areas in Nepal, the Annapurna range is a short distance from the lake town of Pokhara. With mountain ranges over 8000 meters and with lowlands and foothills full of ethnic inhabitants, the Annapurna region is the most visited trekking destinations of Nepal. From the deepest gorge in the world to the sacred Fishtail Mountain, the Annapurna sanctuary trek exposes all of the jewels of the Annapurna region. The high point of the trek is reaching the base of the sacred Annapurna Mountain. Ringed by giants such as the Annapurna 1, Macchapuchhre, and Glacier Dome, the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek has been graded as a difficult yet a hugely adventurous one.

The itinerary has been created, so as to eliminate the threat of suffering from Acute Mountain Sickness. Proper acclimatization and good physique is the key to success in this trek.

  1. Day Arrival and Transfer to the Hotel

    Transfer to the hotel and relish the unique and delicious Nepali cuisine or rest in the premises of the hotel.

  2. Day Sightseeing Around Kathmandu

    Kathmandu is home to exquisite sightseeing locations. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage sites of the architecturally beautiful Kathmandu Durbar Square as well as the mystical Patan Durbar Square.

  3. Day Drive from Kathmandu to Nayapul & trek to Birethanti (1070m)

    Drive to Nayapul through the sides of the roaring Trishuli River. Trek to Birethanti. Approximately 7.5 hours of drive. Approximately 30 minutes of the trek.

  4. Day Trek from Birethanti to Ulleri (2070m)

    Challenging day as the trial follows a rough motorable path up to Hile and an undulating path up to Tikhedhunga. From here, the trek to Ulleri is an exhausting one through steep stone stairs. Approximately 6 to 7 hours of trek.

  5. Day Trek from Ulleri to Ghorepani (2860m)

    Walk through forests of rhododendron to the beautiful village of Ghorepani through Banthatti and through exquisitely beautiful waterfalls. Ghorepani is home to the views of the massive mastiffs including the likes of Annapurna, Dhaulaigiri, Lamjung, Macchapucchre and other Himalayan giants. Approximately 6 to 7 hours of trek.

  6. Day Hike to Poon Hill (3210m) & trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani (2600m)

    Poon Hill is one of the highlights view point of the trek. Early morning hike to Poon Hill for the mesmerizing views of the sun glistening over the tops of the aforementioned peaks of Annapurna region. After witnessing one of the most magnificent views in the world, trek back to Tadapani through rhododendron forests. Approximately 6 to 7 hours of trek.

  7. Day Trek from Tadapani- Chhomrong (2170m)

    Start off with a descend to reach Chuili and down to KyumnuKhola, followed by an ascent through a switchback trail to the Gurung village of Chommrong, the last permanent settlement in the valley. Approximately 7 hours of trek.

  8. Day Trek from Chhomrong to Dovan (2630m)

    Descend downwards through the stone staircase and you will be greeted by the roaring Kimrong River. This will be followed by an uphill walk to Sinuwa village and then settlements of people become sparse. After passing through some wooden bridges reach Dovan. Approximately 7 hours of trek.

  9. Day Trek from Dovan to Macchapucchre Base Camp (3720m)

    Start off by passing the Hinko Cave, which will bring us out from the treeline. Walking aside the Modi khola River, you will reach the base camp of the beautiful Fishtail Mountain called locally as Macchapucchre. Stupendous views of Macchapucchre, Annapurna 1, Annapurna 2, Gangapurna greets us. Approximately 7 hours of trek.

  10. Day Hike to Annapurna Base Camp & return to Macchapucchre Base Camp (3720m)

    Explore the alpine wilderness as we walk to the Annapurna Base Camp. We will be encircled by the unbroken soaring ramparts like the Annapurna 1, Annapurna 3, Gangapurna and the Macchpucchre. Return to Macchapuchhre Base Camp. Approx. 3-4 hrs. trek.

  11. Day Trek from Macchapucchre Base Camp to Bamboo Hotel (2340m)

    Retrace same trail to Dovan and spend the night in the Bamboo Hotel, full of dense thickets of bamboo. Approximately 7 hours of trek.

  12. Day Trek from Bamboo Hotel- JhinuDanda (1760m)

    Trek from Bamboo Hotel to the Upper Sinuwa with beautiful views of the mountain peaks all around. The path to the JhinuDanda is a vertical steep descent and somewhat difficult and is transversed by steep terraces. Approximately 6 hours of trek.

  13. Day Trek from Jhunnu danda to Kyumi & drive to Pokhara

    End of trek today. Drop to the Modi Khola to Kyumi. Drive from Kyumi to Nayapul. Leaving behind the up-close views of the Annapurna region we will return back to the welcoming heart of the Lake City, Pokhara. Approximately 4 hours of trek. Approximately 2.5 hours of drive.

  14. Day Explore Pokhara in the morning & fly back to Kathmandu

    Boating around the Phewa Lake which reflects the glistening views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri vista. Visit the Guptsehwore Cave and the Davis Falls before bidding farewell to Pokhara and flying back to Kathmandu on a scenic flight. Approximately 25 minutes of flight.

  15. Day Free day in Kathmandu

    Optional Sightseeing in around Kathmandu to Pashupatinath, Bhaktapur, and Boudhanath for those interested. You can also buy souvenirs for loved ones back home.

  16. Day Depart transfer

    Today you return back to your country after being transferred to the airport. With heavy hearts, and a promise to come back for more, you can depart to your country from the Tribhuvan International airport.

    Today, upon arrival from your respective countries, our representative will transfer you to the hotel from the airport. The rest of the day will be spent in the hotel itself.   • Day Sightseeing Around Kathmandu

    Kathmandu has been listed as one of the most historic areas around the world. With several UNESCO World Heritage Sites to choose from, it is best to take time out to marvel upon the architectural delights put forward by the Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur Durbar Square. Durbar Square basically means Palace Square and each of the Squares once belonged to the Kings of the respective kingdoms.

    Kathmandu Durbar Square is situated in Basantapur and consists of a complex of palaces, temples, courtyards and the KumariGhar. KumariGhar houses the only living Goddess in the world. Another important World Heritage Site is the Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Full of architectural delights, the Bhaktapur Durbar Square has retained its beauty and charm even after the devastating earthquake that shook the nation on 2015.

    Patan Durbar Square, situated in Lalitpur, is a marvel of Newari architecture. Tiled with red bricks, the temples and idols in the area are worth drooling upon. We end the day with a relaxing drive back to the hotel.

  • Day Drive from Kathmandu to Nayapul & trek to Birethanti (1070m)

    Today marks the beginning of the trek. We will leave for the drive to Nayapul early in the morning, after breakfast. Driving westwards through the views of the roaring Trishuli River, we will reach Pokhara in about 6 hours. We will not be stopping in Pokhara but will move forward to reach Nayapul. Nayapul is the point from where we will commence our adventure. A 30-minute walk from Nayapul through the Modi Khola, will bring us to Birethanti where we will be spending the night.

  • Day Trek from Birethanti to Ulleri (2070m)

    Today’s trek will be a challenging one as we will need to cross steep stone stairs during the end of the day. The trek, which commences from Birethanti will initially be an easy one. The trek will pass through several waterfalls and through the sides of the Burgundi Khola. The road that we trek through is motorable up to Hile.

    After Hile, the trail will be an undulating one. Upon reaching Tikhedhunga and after lunch, the hard portion of the day starts. To reach Ulleri, we will need to cross a huge number of steep, slate steps. The climb from Tikhedhunga to Ulleri takes approximately two hours. The entire trek from Birethanti to Ulleri will complete in about 6 to 7 hours. We will be spending the night in Ulleri.

  • Day Trek from Ulleri to Ghorepani (2860m)

    Today we will be covering the altitude of about 800 meters. When walking out to Ulleri, the trail will now enter the area filled with rhododendron forests. If you happen to cross the area in the spring season, the rhododendron flowers will be in full bloom and the entire area will be a blaze of color. The continuous ascent today will be interlude by trains of mules. The mules carry rice and other supplies towards the Kingdom of Mustang. Led on by the bells of the mules, we emerge from the rhododendron forests to the beautiful village of Ghorepani. Ghorepani is home to the views of the massive mastiffs including the likes of Annapurna, Dhaulaigiri, Lamjung, Macchapucchre and other Himalayan giants of the Annapurna region.

    Upon reaching Ghorepani, a sudden and splendid vista of icy mountain tops will greet us. A 6-7 hour trek will take you from Ulleri to Ghorepani (2860m). The trek will start off by crossing Banthati, ascending the rhododendron forests and reaching the big settlement of Ghorepani by passage through several beautiful waterfalls. Most houses here have blue tops and there is a health post situated in the middle of the village.

  • Day Hike to Poon Hill (3210m) & trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani (2600m)

    Today, we will be hiking up to one of the highlights of the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. Poon Hill is a hill situated at the altitude of 3195 meters above sea level. An early morning, approximately one hour walk will take us from Ghorepani to the top of Poon Hill. From the Poon Hill tower, we will be able to catch mesmerizing views of the sun glistening over the tops of the icy peaks like the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. We return back to Ghorepani with heart's content for having seen one of the world’s magnificent vistas.

    With the magnetizing views of the mountain peaks in all their glory in mind, we embark on a 7-hour walk from Ghorepani to Tadapani after breakfast. The first hill to be climbed, the BahunDanda, offers more spectacular views of the mountain peaks of the Annapurna region. After this the path today will pass through the more open country. We will descend downwards to a jungle which hides the views of the mountain peaks. After passing through the area with a few lodges, we will come through to a clearing which consists of the village called Banthanti.

    We climb back to the height of 2745 meters and reach another pass of Tadapnai. Tadapani offers splendid vistas of the Annapurna South as well as the Macchapuchcre. We will spend the night in the beautiful village of Tadapani (2600m).

  • Day Trek from Tadapani- Chhomrong (2170m)

    After breakfast, we will descend for a short time to reach Chuili. Chuili is another perfect spot for amazing views of the mountains. After this, the trail further descends downwards through forested areas filled with rhododendrons. We will finally reach the KyumnuKhola, which is the tributary of Modi Khola. After this, the path takes on an upward path. The ascent up to the village of Chhomrong is a steep one and the entire passage from Tadapani to Chhomrong takes about 7 hours.

    Chhomrong is a Gurung village which stands tall at the height of 2170 m. this village is also the last permanent settlement in the valley. Beyond Chommrong, we will be observing the views of Yersasa. Yersasa is the shelter of herdsmen, which are used in the summer months. Chhomrong also greets us with the views of the MacchapucchreMountain as well as the Annapurna South in its full glory.

  • Day Trek from Chhomrong to Dovan (2630m)

    Today, the track starts with a descending stone staircase. After some time of descending, we will come across the banks of the ChhomrongKhola. Upon passing it, we trail finally climbs out of this side valley to enter the Modi Khola Valley.

    After this point, the trekking trail will pass through rhododendron, oak, and hemlock trees to reach the settlement of KuldiGhar at the height of 2540m. KuldiGhar was initially a sheep breeding area. The trail now follows an undulating path through dense bamboo shoots. These bamboo thickets are utilized to make the carrying baskets which are used by our porters, called locally as the ‘doko’.  Bamboo shoots are also used for creating roofs and flooring. After climbing up through the densely packed bamboo thickets, we will come across rhododendron forests again. If you happen to come by this area in the spring season, we will be greeted with snow. The forest now clears out to Dovan(2505m), where we will spend the night. Dovan is home to several teahouses. The trek will take approximately 7 hours in total.

  • Day Trek from Dovan to Macchapucchre Base Camp (3720m)

    The path today passes through the forest. We will firstly come across the lodges at the Himalaya Hotel. After this, we will come across the Hinko Cave. Initially, when there were no treehouses in the valley, trekkers used to spend their nights in the Hinko Cave. Upon crossing a ravine, the trail starts becoming steeper and steeper. Leaving the trees behind us, we will cross boulders as the valley becomes wider. Wild scenery greets our path after which we will be greeted with the gates of the sanctuary. We will pass through the heights of Macchapuchhre and Hiunchuli.  After relishing the views of the awesome peaks, we will reach the base camp of the sacred Macchapucchre Mountain. The Macchapucchre Base Camp (3700m) is where we will spend the night. The stupendous views include the panorama of Macchapucchre, Annapurna 1, Annapurna 2, Gangapurna and much more. The trek from Dovan to Macchapucchre Base Camp completes in 7 hours.

  • Day Hike to Annapurna Base Camp & return to Macchapucchre Base Camp (3720m)

    Today, we will get the chance to explore the high alpine wilderness put forward by the Annapurna Sanctuary. We will start off on an early morning trek today. A 2-hour walk will take us to the highlight of the trek, the Annapurna BaseCamp. The ABC is surrounded, by the extremely beautiful snowcapped peaks which are among the highest mountains in the world.  We will be encircled by the unbroken soaring ramparts like the Annapurna 1, Annapurna 3, Gangapurna and the Macchpucchre. The sunrise views from the Base Camp are truly splendid.

    At times, the Annapurna Base Camp is almost full with snow. This makes it difficult to spend the night in the heavenly place. This is why we will make a return back to the Macchapucchre Base Camp. Approx. 3-4 hrs. trek.

  • Day Trek from Macchapucchre Base Camp to Bamboo Hotel (2340m)

    After gathering our belongings, we move descend back down the valley. Descending past Hinko, we will leave the sanctuary behind. Through paths adorned by bamboo thickets and rhododendron forests, we reach Bamboo Hotel. Bamboo Hotel is called so, as the entire area is full of dense thickets of bamboo. We spend the night in the Bamboo Hotel. Approx. 7 hrs. trek.

  • Day Trek from Bamboo Hotel- JhinuDanda (1760m)

    After breakfast, the trek descends down the Modi Khola Valley today. We will trek up and down through several stone steps to reach the ChhomrongKhola. Crossing it will bring us back to the inhabited region of the valley. We climb up the stone steps to reach the village of Chhomrong. After spending some time to rest, the path descends steeply downwards to reach Upper Sinuwa, which offers magnificent views ofthe massive Annapurna and Macchpucchre peaks that we left behind. We will pass through several terraces in order to reach JhinuDanda (1760m). The path to the Jhinu Danda is a vertical steep descent and somewhat difficult.  JhinuDanda is home to the famous Jhinu hot springs where you can relieve your aching muscles. The trek from Bamboo Hotel to JhinuDanda takes approximately 6 hours.

  • Day Trek from Jhunnu danda to Kyumi & drive to Pokhara

    Today marks the end of this adventure. This is a short day as we drop downwards to the Modi Khola River. We will pass through the banks of the roaring Modi Khola, to trek down to Kyumi through New Bridge and Kyumi. This takes about 4 hours approximately. From Kyumi, it is a 2.5 hours drive to Pokhara via Birethanti. We will be spending the night in a hotel in Pokhara. If time permits, you will be free to roam about and cycle in the streets of the beautiful Lake City of Pokhara.

  • Day Explore Pokhara in the morning & fly back to Kathmandu

    You will be free in the morning and after breakfast; there is the option of boating in the beautiful Phewa Lake in Pokhara. Phewa Lake offers an extensive view of the vista of the Annapurna and Dahulaigiri mountain range that we were able to view from an up close distance. If time permits, we can also visit the Gupteshwore Cave and the Davis Falls before bidding farewell to the beautiful Lake City of Pokhara. A 25-minute flight will take you back to Kathmandu and you will be transferred to the hotel. The flight will certainly be a beautiful one with the views of the peaks of the Annapurna region glistening all around us.

    This day is separated for optional sightseeing in Kathmandu. There are many places in the capital of Nepal, like the Boudanath, Syambunath as well as Pashupati, which are worth visiting. Boudhanath is the largest stupa in the world while Syambunath is commonly called as the Monkey Temple for the huge number of monkeys found there. Pashupatinath is the holy temple of Hindu people and a sacred spot which cannot the accessed by foreigners. The rest of the evening can be spent by doing some souvenir shopping for loved ones back home. Thamel is the perfect location to shop for supplies and souvenirs. You will spend the night in the hotel.

    Outside of Nepal, A visa can also be obtained at the nearest Nepal Embassy or Diplomatic Mission. To renew a Visa you can go to the Department of Immigration, Kalikasthan, Kathmandu.

Are these trips physically demanding?

The Annapurna region is traversed by a huge number of mountainous peaks, shining bright from forested ridges to deserted valleys. The Annapurna region provides the best contrast between different landscapes, with one region being under the rain shadow region and the other region being filled with forested valleys. Treks in Annapurna region can be physically demanding, especially if you are someone with lesser experience of hiking and trekking. However, none of the trips are too difficult for a physically strong individual with regular exercise habits. Treks to Annapurna region can be avoided if you are someone with weak physical health, medical conditions or someone who is under 12 years of age.  Read the physical rating of each trip in order to determine if the trip is meant for you.
